The Southwest Sun - Monday, October 23, 2023

On Tuesday, November 7, our community will vote on the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal. If approved, the bond proposal would provide $258 million for improvements to our district while expecting to maintain the current tax rate of 5.5 mills. If approved, the bond proposal would fund the construction of a new modern Southwest Elementary on the same property as our current school. Our students and staff would remain in our current school while the new school is being constructed. Our newer classroom furniture and technology would move into the new building while older outdated technology and furniture would be replaced. To learn more about what this new school would include, please visit https://bit.ly/3Pvbxrh.  To learn more about the bond proposal, please visit HowellSchools.com/Bond. Please remember to vote on November 7 on the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal.

We are thrilled to continue to celebrate Wylie's return to Southwest.  Just as we knew before, his presence brings smiles and joy to both staff and students.  Look for a more detailed letter speciic to all things Wylie.  There will also be a link included within that correspondence, should you have any questions or concerns.  We firmly believe that having Wylie as a part of our school family will contribute to a warm and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported. His presence enhances the emotional and social well-being of our students and we are excited to have him back.  I would be remiss if I didn't extend a huge thank you to our Howell High School Senior Survivor Fundraiser and the student participants for bringing Wylie into our Coyote family.

Happy Halloween,

Jennifer Goodwin - Principal
