 Counselor's CornerEmbrace Boredom

Boredom might seem like a bad thing, but it’s a much-needed counterpoint to information/stimulation overload and vital to your long-term health, happiness, and productivity. To get more comfortable with boredom, build your ability to resist meaningless distraction. Whenever you think “I’m bored,” lean into that feeling instead of instinctively reaching for the nearest gadget. Look around you. Find someone else with a free moment and talk. Wonder about something in your immediate environment, then return to the next item on your list with more focus.

Here’s to a peaceful week,

Gigi Jackson - Counselor

I can’t believe January is almost over! Second semester is off to a great start. While the holidays are behind us, we did learn that some students were lucky enough to receive smart watches from Santa. While these items are really special, please truly consider allowing them to come to school with your child. They fall under the “wireless communication device” portion of our Student Handbook. If, for some reason, it is necessary that they stay with your student, please talk to them about both appropriate use or leaving it in their locker. This also protects it from falling into the wrong hands.  Our wireless communication device expectations can be found at: https://cdn5-ss12.sharpschool.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_140557/File/About%20Us/Departments/Human%20Resources/Student%20Parent%20Handbook/studentparenthandbook.pdf

We are expecting snow next this week! Please remember to have your student dress for the weather. We go outside when the “Real Feel” temperature is about 10 degrees as determined by weather.com - gloves, hats, scarves, boots, and snowpants make recess more comfortable and fun!

Thank you for all of your continued support!

Jennifer Goodwin - Principal
