Quarter 2 / Semester 1 Report Cards
Report
cards for Quarter 2/Semester 1 will be viewable in the PowerSchool

your child's report card on Tuesday evening. The email will read,
"Attached please find your child's Quarter 2/Semester 1 report card from
Howell Public Schools. To view this attachment, you will be prompted
for a password. The password is your child's student number." Please
contact our office if you do not know your child's student number.
Transportation Updates
The
district continues to deal with staffing shortages in the
Transportation Department. This is an issue districts are dealing with
in both Livingston County and around the state. Please know the district
is aggressively recruiting new drivers through various methods of
advertising and recruiting. The staffing shortage has resulted in some
route cancellations, which have led to longer drop-off and pick-up times
at our school. As the district works to hire and train new bus drivers,
please plan a few extra minutes if you are driving your child. If you
know anyone interested in becoming a bus driver, please have them visit www.BeABusDriver.com to learn more or apply.
Counselor’s Corner
January
has become synonymous with resolutions. The fresh start of a new year
is a perfect opportunity to do some self-reflection as a family. What is
going well? What are we proud of? What traditions do we want to
continue? It’s also a good time to look for areas of improvement and
growth.
As you reflect and make resolve, just
remember that “You don’t have to make huge changes and resolutions, or
big decisions, or big proclamations. You can just set some small, sweet
intentions and take each day as it comes” (Victoria Erickson). This is a
time for growth and progress, but also grace and self-compassion.
Here’s to a peaceful new year!
Gigi Jackson ~ Southwest Counselor
Happy
New Year! Welcome to 2023. We are excited to be back. Staff and
students hit the ground running last week. Look for winter NWEA testing
information from your teacher. Remember, no school for students on
Monday, January 16th. As we move into 2023, I continue to be grateful
for our community here at Southwest. I'm excited for what is to come!
Respectfully,
Jennifer Goodwin - Principal
